On Cutoff Rigidities of Cosmic Rays
نویسنده
چکیده
On employing International Reference Field (IGRF) model, vertical cutoff rigidities for the epoch 1995 are computed above several cosmic ray stations at different altitudes. Comparison of the results assuming the Earth’s body both as sphere and ellipsoid is worked out whilst results and effects are compared with the approach based on McIlwains L parameter.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of the Gamma Radiation from Earth’s Atmosphere during a Solar Cycle
The Solar Maximum Mission satellite’s Gamma Ray Spectrometer spent much of its 1980–1989 mission pointed at Earth, accumulating spectra of atmospheric albedo γ-rays. Its 28◦ orbit ensured that a range of geomagnetic latitudes was sampled. We measured the variation with time and cutoff rigidity of some key γ-ray lines which are diagnostic of the intensity of the Galactic cosmic radiation penetra...

The GRAPES-3 tracking muon telescope in Ooty, India measures muon intensity at high cutoff rigidities (15-24 GV) along nine independent directions covering 2.3 sr. The arrival of a coronal mass ejection on 22 June 2015 18:40 UT had triggered a severe G4-class geomagnetic storm (storm). Starting 19:00 UT, the GRAPES-3 muon telescope recorded a 2 h high-energy (∼20 GeV) burst of galactic cosmic ...
متن کاملThe secular variations of cosmic ray cutoff rigidities ,
Vertical rigidities of geomagnetic cutoff are obtained for world neutron monitor network with annual resolution for the period of 1950-2020 by the method of trajectory calculations with the model International Geomagnetic Reference Field. Results of the computations show the total decrease of the cut off rigidities in the majority points which is caused by a decrease of the total geomagnetic fi...
متن کاملSpatial and temporal distribution of secondary cosmic-ray nucleon intensities and applications to in situ cosmogenic dating
Cosmogenic nuclide production rates depend critically on the spatio-temporal distribution of cosmic-ray nucleon fluxes. Since the 1950s, measurements of the altitude, latitude and solar modulation dependencies of secondary cosmic-ray fluxes have been obtained by numerous investigators. However, until recently there has been no attempt to thoroughly evaluate the large body of modern cosmic-ray l...
متن کاملUltrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays Detection
The paper describes methods used for the detection of cosmic rays with energies above 1018 eV (UHECR, UltraHigh Energy Cosmic Rays). It had been anticipated there would be a cutoff in the energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays around 3·1019 eV induced by their interaction with the 2.7 K primordial photons. This has become known as the GZK cutoff. However, several showers have been detected with...
